What's the Difference?

Proportions Over Size

"The most beautiful result isn't the biggest. It's the one that fits you best."

Choosing the largest implant or chasing a specific cup size can throw your body out of balance. Our approach starts with your frame, your tissue, and your goals. We calculate the profile, shape, and placement that complement your natural proportions, then select the implant and surgical technique best suited to your anatomy.

Banobagi plans every breast surgery with this level of precision, because a result that looks natural, feels right, and lasts is the only standard we accept.

Proportions Over Size

Breast Surgery Procedures

From augmentation and revision to reduction and reconstruction, our specialists offer the full range of breast procedures, each one planned around your anatomy, your goals, and your long-term health.

Popular Combinations

Breast augmentation + lift is the most popular combination, restoring lost volume and correcting sagging in a single procedure. Breast reduction + lift relieves physical discomfort while reshaping for a balanced, more youthful contour. Combining procedures reduces total recovery time and produces more harmonious results.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Breast Surgery?

Breast surgery is suitable for a wide range of patients. Here are the most common reasons people seek each procedure.

Breast Augmentation

  • You feel your breasts are too small or have lost volume after pregnancy or weight change
  • One breast is noticeably smaller than the other, creating visible asymmetry
  • You want a fuller, more balanced silhouette that fits your frame
  • You are an adult and in good health

Breast Revision

  • You are experiencing capsular contracture, rupture, or implant malposition
  • You are unhappy with results from a previous breast surgery
  • Your implants have aged and need to be exchanged or removed
  • At least 6 months have passed since your original procedure

Breast Reduction

  • You experience neck, back, or shoulder pain caused by the weight of your breasts
  • You develop skin irritation or bra-strap grooves from heavy breasts
  • Physical activity and exercise are limited by breast size
  • Your breasts have finished developing and you are in stable overall health

Breast Lift (Ptosis Correction)

  • Your breasts have sagged or lost shape after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss
  • Your nipples point downward or sit below the breast crease
  • You are happy with your size but want a firmer, more youthful position
  • You are typically finished with childbearing and breastfeeding

Nipple & Areola Reduction

  • Your nipples are enlarged, elongated, or puffy beneath clothing
  • Your areolas are wider than you would like, or asymmetric
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding has changed the size and shape of your nipples
  • You want a more refined, balanced look on the breast

Breast Implant Removal

  • You no longer want implants and prefer a more natural look
  • You are experiencing complications such as rupture, capsular contracture, or BII symptoms
  • Your lifestyle or personal preferences have changed over time
  • You are considering replacement or a lift at the same time

How to Prepare for Breast Surgery in Korea

Good preparation makes for a smoother procedure and faster recovery. Here is what to do at each stage before your surgery date.

01

2–4 Weeks Before Arrival

  • Stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and herbal supplements 1–2 weeks before surgery, as these increase bleeding risk
  • Stop weight-loss medications such as Wegovy or Mounjaro at least 2 weeks before surgery
  • Stop blood thinners at least 1 week before surgery (consult your prescribing doctor first)
  • Avoid alcohol and smoking for at least 1–2 weeks before surgery, as both impair healing and increase complication risk
  • Inform the clinic of any regular medications you take, as some may need to be reviewed by the anesthesiologist
  • If you have diabetes, high blood pressure, or thyroid issues, contact your coordinator for specific pre-surgery instructions
  • Arrange travel and accommodation close to the clinic in Gangnam, Seoul
  • Send pre-consultation photos to your coordinator via WhatsApp or email
02

1 Week Before Surgery

  • Complete all pre-operative blood tests, ECG, and health screening as directed by the clinic
  • Pick up your prescribed medications and post-surgery compression bra in advance
  • Prepare a recovery area at your accommodation with extra pillows to keep your upper body elevated while sleeping
  • Arrange for someone to accompany you on surgery day and stay with you for the first 24–48 hours
  • Confirm your surgery date and pre-operative consultation time with your coordinator
03

The Day Before Surgery

  • Shower and wash thoroughly with antibacterial soap the night before or morning of surgery
  • Stop eating at least 6–8 hours before your scheduled surgery time. Do not consume food, drinks, water, or candy. If fasting is not followed, surgery cannot be performed
  • Do not apply lotions, perfumes, deodorant, or skincare products to the chest or underarm area on the day of surgery
  • Get a full night of rest to support your body’s healing response
  • Prepare loose, front-button or front-zip clothing that is easy to put on and take off after surgery. Avoid anything that must be pulled over the head
  • Remove all jewelry, including rings, necklaces, earrings, and body piercings
  • Charge your phone and download offline entertainment for post-surgery rest time
04

What to Bring to the Clinic

  • Passport or government-issued photo ID
  • A list of any medications you currently take (prescription or over-the-counter)
  • Your post-surgery compression bra if not provided by the clinic
  • A companion or your coordinator’s contact details for the journey home
  • Payment is in KRW (Korean Won). International credit cards and cash are both accepted. Consider increasing your card limit before your visit
  • Any pre-arranged deposit confirmation

Breast Surgery Recovery & Aftercare

What to expect after your procedure and how to ensure the best possible results.

Day 1-3

Immediate Recovery

Swelling, tightness, and bruising peak within 48–72 hours. Prescribed pain medication and antibiotics manage discomfort and prevent infection. Sleep on your back with your upper body elevated. Avoid lifting your arms above shoulder height.

Day 5-7

Drain Removal & First Checkup

Surgical drains (if placed) are removed at your first post-op visit. Your surgeon checks incision healing, swelling, and implant position (for augmentation). Most patients feel comfortable enough for light walking and short outings, but still need help with daily tasks.

Week 2-4

Gradual Improvement

Bruising fades and swelling continues to reduce. Most patients return to desk work and social activities around week 2. Light lower-body exercise can resume after 2–3 weeks. Continue wearing your compression bra as directed. Avoid chest exercises, heavy lifting, and sleeping on your side or stomach.

Month 3-6

Final Results

All residual swelling has resolved. Implants settle into their final position (often called “drop and fluff” for augmentation). Incision lines fade from red to skin-toned, typically hidden within the natural breast crease or areola border. You can resume all normal activities including chest exercise.

Travel Tip

Plan to stay in Seoul for at least 10–14 days after your breast surgery. This allows time for your pre-op consultation, the procedure itself, and post-operative check-ups including drain removal and stitch removal before flying home. Many international patients combine their medical trip with gentle sightseeing in Seoul once cleared for light activity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most breast surgery procedures require 1–2 weeks for initial recovery. Major swelling subsides within 4–6 weeks, with the final shape settling at 3–6 months. You can typically resume light daily activities after 1 week, but should avoid strenuous exercise for 4–6 weeks.

Yes, combining breast procedures is very common and often recommended for optimal results. Popular combinations include augmentation with a breast lift, or reduction with a lift. Combining procedures reduces total recovery time and produces more harmonious results.

Banobagi offers a full range of trusted implants including silicone gel (cohesive) and Motiva options. During your consultation, your surgeon will recommend the best implant type, size, and profile based on your body frame, existing breast tissue, and aesthetic goals.

For most breast procedures, a stay of at least 10–14 days is recommended. This allows time for consultation, surgery, initial recovery, drain removal, and follow-up checks before departing. Your coordinator will provide a detailed schedule tailored to your procedure.

Most patients describe the discomfort as mild to moderate. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, so you feel nothing during surgery. Post-operative discomfort is managed with prescribed medication. The most common sensations are tightness, pressure, and mild soreness in the first week.

Modern implants are designed to last many years. While they are not lifetime devices, most implants last 10–20 years or more without issues. Regular check-ups are recommended to monitor implant integrity. Silicone implant ruptures are typically detected through MRI screening.
